Whatsapp users should start getting ready for an onslaught of messages from companies looking to patronize you. Yesterday, the company outlined in a blog post the kind of interactions it wants to have, including more targeted ads . However, in order to do this, WhatsApp will share your phone number with Facebook’s system.
The first method is the obvious one: Do not agree to WhatsApp’s updated terms of service!!
WhatsApp will notify you of thechange to its terms of service. When you open the app, you will see a page that says this, and asks you to tap agree. If you are on this screen, follow the steps below.
✔Uncheck Share my WhatsApp account information with Facebook…
Incase you already tapped agreed here’s how to opt out.
For iPhone users
Go to Settings > Account.
Uncheck Share my account info.
For Android users
✔Tap the three dots icon on the top-right.
✔Tap Settings > Account.
✔Uncheck Share my account info.
NOTE You have minimum of 30-days to opt out, else you might not have control over your privacy again…
These changes are yet to roll out, but they will show up soon, so keep these steps in mind and share with your Friends and Parents.
