According to him:
“Running Apple is a lonely job.”
“I think it’s incumbent on a CEO to not just listen to points of view but to actually solicit them,” Tim Cook said in the interview. “Because I think, if not, you quickly become insular. And you’re sort of living in the echo chamber.”
He listed 5 people:
✅Warren Buffet (Needs no introduction)
✅Bill Clinton (Same option above)
✅Anderson Cooper (Popular CNN’s anchor).
✅Lloyd Blankfein (CEO, Goldman Sachs)
All male, but the only female on the list is none other than Steve Jobs widow, co-founder and former chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Laurene Powell Jobs Trust.
Apart from her previous accomplishments, she is the sixth richest woman in the world based on Forbes’ ranking and has a $560 million stake in Apple. She also owns 130–140 million shares of stock (7–8 percent) in The Walt Disney Company (All inherited from Steve Jobs) making her its largest shareholder (Wikipedia).
As to why Tim Cook seeks her out for advice, he said:
“Laurene has the lens of knowing me and deeply understanding Apple.”
It’s only fitting.
